A new report from the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), chaired by Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., examines whether the National Education Association (NEA) and American Federation of Teachers (AFT) have remained focused on their stated educational missions. Drawing on committee correspondence, financial filings, and internal union materials, the report finds that both unions have expanded significantly into political and ideological advocacy, that the NEA has failed to adequately respond to antisemitism and the treatment of Jewish members, and that both unions' use of member dues raises serious questions of transparency and accountability.
